ADDITIONAL CARE INFORMATION

Linen items are easy to care for — they may be washed at any temperature, even boiled; they dry quickly and may be ironed at any temperature, though they should be ironed after washing. Linen fabric is durable, absorbs moisture well, and dries fast. We recommend not washing linen by hand, as wet linen becomes heavy and hard to handle, which may complicate the process.
Choose the washing temperature based on the trims/finishing of the item; as a rule, wash linen items in a washing machine at 60–90 °C. Wash dark linens at 40 °C, coloured linens at 60 °C, and white fabrics at 95 °C. It’s best not to use a dryer for linen items, as they crease during drying and heavily creased dry garments are difficult to iron. Iron with a hot iron or steam up to 220 °C.

When using linen towels, note that they may not absorb moisture well at first; wash them a couple of times to soften the fabric. Unlike cotton and other fabrics, dirt adheres to linen rather than soaking in, so it’s easier to wash out. Linen also has a self-cleaning property, similar to wool, because the fibre does not absorb dirt deep into it.

ATTENTION!

Traditional (non-softened) linen fabric: linen fibre has better lightfastness than cotton, but in direct sunlight it quickly loses strength; therefore, do not dry in direct sun. Under normal conditions linen absorbs about 12% moisture, so it takes up moisture quickly and releases it quickly (dries fast). Fabrics shrink when drying! On the first wash, the fabric may shrink by 10 cm per 1 m.

Softened/washed linen marked “stone wash”: softened/washed linen has a slight crinkle effect and does not need ironing. It can be machine-washed at 40–60 °C together with other clothing or bed linen. During the technological softening process it has already shrunk, so it will not shrink further.
